Turner Duckworth

In September I listed a few design studios to check their portfolio when I had time, and time only came today (yes, I know how difficult that is to believe, but believe me: when you study in the mornings, work in the afternoons, and have to take care of your home and do homework in the nights you will find yourself with barely anytime left for you!). Anyway, on my list there was this studio called Turner Duckworth. Since it starts with T it was almost in the bottom, but it should have been right on the top. I started to look at their works and liked very much, especially after I found out they were the ones responsible for Amazon.com's logo. It is perfect how they made the arrow pointing from A to Z become a smile, and how that fits into the context of the company's business.


They were also responsible for Coca-Cola's brand redesign, making its core brand elements clearer and enhancing Coca-Cola's identity.


But what really blew me away was a "simple" Christmas card. Turner Duckworths has two offices, one in London and the other in San Francisco. And their 2009 Holiday card depicts both cities' skylines in a perfect negative and positive stylized drawing. I really did shout "Que genial!(how genius)" Luckily there were no one around to hear me and think I am crazy. Although I a am little crazy...

Em Setembro listei alguns estúdios de design para olhar seu portfólio quando tivesse tempo, e o tempo só veio hoje (sim, eu sei que parece difícil de acreditar, mas acredite: quando você estuda de manhã, trabalha à tarde, e cuida da casa e faz projeto de faculdade à noite, você se encontra com quase tempo nenhum para você mesmo!) Anyway, na minha lista havia este estúdio chamado Turner Duckworth. Como ele começa com T ele estava quase no final da lista, mas deveria estar logo no começo. Comecei a olhar os seus trabalhos e gostei muito, especialmente depois de descobri que eles que fizeram o logo da Amazon.com. É perfeito como eles fizeram com que a setinha, que aponta do A ao Z, virasse um sorriso, e como isso se encaixa no contexto do trabalho da empresa.


Eles também foram os responsáveis pelo redesign da marca da Coca-Cola, fazendo com que os elementos de sua essência ficassem mais claros e ressaltando a identidade da Coca.


Mas o que realmente me deixou de boca aberta foi um "simples" cartão de Natal. A Turner Duckworth tem dois escritórios, um em Londres e outro em São Francisco. E o cartão de Boas Festas de 2009 deles mostra o skyline de ambas as cidades em um perfeito desenho estilizado em positivo e negativo. Eu realmente gritei "Que genial!". Felizmente não tinha ninguém por perto pra achar que eu sou louco. Se bem que eu sou meio louco mesmo....
